Role Summary:

We are seeking a visionary and strategic leader to join our Wealth Management Technology team as a Director of Data & Analytics. This executive role is pivotal in defining and owning the data strategy and analytical capabilities that will drive our business forward. The ideal candidate is a distinguished leader with an expert-level understanding of the wealth management domain, complemented by a history of leading the technological evolution of data ecosystems at major financial institutions.

As the Director, you will provide the strategic vision for architecting a seamless data landscape that connects our operational systems with cutting-edge analytical platforms. You will lead a team of data professionals to deliver actionable insights and will be the ultimate authority on data modeling and governance. This role demands a unique combination of deep technical expertise, extensive financial industry knowledge, and the ability to lead with urgency and influence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision: Define and own the long-term strategic roadmap for wealth management data and analytics, ensuring alignment with overarching business goals and emerging technology trends.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing team of data architects, engineers, and analysts. Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and urgency.
  • Data Architecture & Modeling: Set the standards and preside over the creation of expert-level conceptual, logical, and physical data models for the entire wealth management domain.
  • Data Ecosystem Evolution: Drive the strategy and execution for modernizing our analytical data and data warehouse technologies, including the adoption and integration of cloud-based providers (e.g., AWS, Snowflake, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Framework & Governance: Own the development and implementation of enterprise-grade, scalable, and secure frameworks for data ingestion, curation, quality control, and distribution.
  • System Integration: Own the architectural vision for integrating core operational systems with our analytical platforms to establish a single, trusted source of truth and enable sophisticated analytics.
  • Technology & Innovation: Champion and direct the adoption of modern data wrangling (e.g., Dataiku) and visualization (e.g., Tableau) tools to create a best-in-class analytics function.
  • Executive Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior business and technology leaders. Influence and align stakeholders on the data strategy and its value proposition.
  • Execution & Delivery: Instill a strong sense of urgency within the team to drive complex projects from conception to completion, ensuring the timely delivery of high-impact data solutions.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: 20+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles within major financial services firms, with deep, pertinent experience in wealth management.
  • Leadership: 10+ years of proven experience in a formal leadership capacity, with a strong track record of building, managing, and mentoring high-performing data teams.
  • Data Warehousing & Cloud: An extensive track record of leading analytical data platforms and data warehouses through their technological evolution, from on-premise to modern, cloud-native solutions.
  • Data Modeling Expertise: Renowned expertise in creating, managing, and evangelizing complex data models specifically for the wealth management industry.
  • Data Lifecycle Management: Demonstrable experience defining strategy and overseeing the creation of frameworks for the end-to-end data lifecycle.
  • Technical Acumen:
    • Strategic understanding and experience with data wrangling and preparation tools (e.g., Dataiku, Alteryx, or similar).
    • Deep expertise in leveraging data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to drive business strategy.
    • Strong foundation in SQL, diverse database technologies, and data architecture principles.
    • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python for data manipulation and automation.
  • Mindset: A dynamic and influential leader with a proactive, "get-it-done" mentality, capable of navigating a complex, matrixed organization and driving change with urgency.
  • Integrator: A strategic thinker with the ability to bridge the gap between operational and analytical systems, understanding the business implications of data flows and architecture.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, or a related field.
  • Master's degree or MBA is highly preferred.
