<div style="text-align: center;"><img class="fr-fic fr-dib" src="https://secure.neogov.com/images/AgencyImages/jobposting/1283/jobpostings/image/FCC_City_TAG_4C.jpg" style="width: 357.0px;" data-uw-rm-alt-original="" alt="Click here" data-uw-rm-alt="CT"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnEsGtWRvuesPrbFkt5N8g4vDJt9OjzyS" style="color: inherit;text-decoration: underline;font-style: normal;text-align: center;text-indent: 0.0px;" target="_blank" data-uw-rm-vglnk="" data-uw-rm-ext-link="" data-uw-rm-empty-ctrl=""><span style="color: rgb(38,122,144);">Click here</span></a> <span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-align: center;text-indent: 0.0px;">to meet some of the City’s “CAN DO” employees.</span> </div><br><div style="text-align: center;"><strong><em>This is a night shift position with working hours scheduled from 1:30pm - 10:30pm. </em></strong></div><br><div style="text-align: center;"><strong>INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.</strong></div><div style="text-align: center;"><strong><br></strong></div><div style="text-align: center;"><strong>A RESUME WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN DETERMINING YOUR QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION.</strong></div><br>The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for two (2) Fleet Technicians to perform skilled tasks in the servicing, repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive, construction, and specialized equipment; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.<ol><li>Perform skilled mechanical duties involving repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel powered automotive vehicles, medium and light automotive, truck, trailer and construction equipment and other power driven equipment.</li><li>Inspect, diagnose and locate mechanical difficulties on fleet vehicles, and a variety of gasoline and diesel powered maintenance and construction equipment.</li><li>Diagnose, maintain and repair electrical systems components, ignition systems, computers, alternators, starters and batteries; diagnose, maintain, repair and recondition hydraulic systems.</li><li>Diagnose and repair front and rear drive axles, drive train components, belts, gears, chain drives and propeller shafts; replace or repair faulty parts including wheel bearings, clutches, oil seals, shock absorbers, exhaust systems, steering mechanisms, and related parts and equipment.</li><li>Overhaul, repair, and adjust engines, transmissions, differentials, and clutches; tune up engines by replacing ignition parts and reconditioning and adjusting carburetors, throttle body and port fuel injection systems and propane fuel systems.</li><li>Repair and replace components including generators, distributors, relays, lights, and switches; repair, adjust and replace brake systems including wheel cylinders, master cylinders, disc pads, machine drums and rotors, hydraulic and air brakes.</li><li>Identify, repair, and replace defective wiring, heating and air conditioning units and components.</li><li>Retrieve, collect and distribute vehicle parts; perform on-site service calls as requested.</li><li>Perform preventative maintenance and repair work to light and medium equipment.</li><li>Prepare and maintain records of automotive maintenance and repair activities performed.</li></ol><strong><br>For a complete job description, </strong><a href="https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/fayetteville/classspecs/1402104" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>click here</strong></a><strong>.</strong>Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:<br><br><u>Experience</u>:<br>Two years of journey level experience performing minor and major equipment repair duties including experience in the maintenance of gasoline, and/or diesel powered equipment (light and medium vehicles, equipment and trailers).<br><br><u>Training</u>:  <br>Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in maintenance and repair of gas, propane, diesel and other types of fuel powered equipment.<br><br><strong>LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:</strong><br><br><u>Required</u>:<br>Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability; possession of, or ability to obtain within six months a North Carolina State Vehicle Safety & OBDII Emissions Inspector’s license.<br><br><u>Preferred</u>:<br>Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications in Automobile & Light Truck or Medium-Heavy Truck.  Forklift certification.<br><br><strong style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;">From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks.</strong><strong style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-indent: 0.0px;"> </strong> <strong>The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check. </strong><br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: inherit;font-style: normal;text-align: center;text-indent: 0.0px;">An Equal Opportunity Employer</span></div>
