Job Type: Full Time The Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate care to patients under the guidance of physicians and nursing staff.

Essential Responsibilities: This position requires timely and accurate documentation in accordance with organizational policies. The technician must demonstrate proficiency in unit-specific competencies, policies, and procedures to provide care for patients ranging from newborns to the elderly. Adherence to privacy and security regulations concerning Protected Health Information (PHI) is mandatory.

Maintaining effective communication and professional relationships with patients, families, healthcare team members, and external agencies is essential.

General Duties: Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

People Management: This role does not include supervisory or management responsibilities.

Education and Experience: Candidates must hold certification as a Medical Assistant (MA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Home Health Aide (HHA) within the state of Kansas, or have completed at least one semester of nursing school.

Licenses and Certifications: A current BLS/CPR certification is required before engaging in patient care activities. Successful completion of on-the-job training in sterile technique, sterile field maintenance, instrument care (including obstetrics and surgery), as well as EKG and phlebotomy training for emergency care, is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a medical environment is advantageous. Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) from ASCP are preferred.

Skills and Abilities: Basic to moderate computer skills are required, especially for telesitter duties. Effective communication skills, a solid understanding of medical terminology, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a compassionate approach to patient care are essential.

Physical Requirements: This role involves very heavy work, occasionally requiring lifting over 100 lbs and frequently lifting up to 50 lbs. The technician may spend 75-100% of the shift standing or walking.
